Fractures & sports injuries

After an injury, timely care matters.

FAQ

Questions patients often ask

Short answers to common concerns. Your own treatment depends on your examination and reports.

When should I see an orthopaedic doctor for joint pain?
If pain lasts more than two to three weeks, keeps you up at night, comes with swelling, stiffness or locking, or makes walking and climbing stairs difficult, it is a good time to get it checked.
Does knee arthritis always need surgery?
No. Many people do well with weight management, strengthening exercises, physiotherapy, pain medicines and, in some cases, injections. Knee replacement is usually considered when pain and stiffness stay severe despite these measures.
How long does a fracture take to heal?
It depends on the bone, the type of break, age and general health. Many fractures take around 6 to 12 weeks to unite, and getting full strength back may take longer with guided exercises.
Is back pain with leg pain serious?
Pain going down the leg is often due to nerve irritation, such as from a slip disc, and most cases improve without surgery. Seek care urgently if you notice leg weakness, numbness around the private parts, or trouble controlling urine or stools.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring any previous X-rays, MRI or CT reports, prescriptions, and a list of the medicines you take. Wearing loose clothing makes it easier to examine the affected joint.
